March 4th, 2016

We looked and we saw him!  The Cat in the Hat!

This week we celebrated Read Across America and Dr. Seuss

We started with The Cat in the Hat

...and practiced our written names.

Then, we read One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish

and used that as an opportunity to continue with our graphing practice.

Fox in Socks was a good opportunity for the children to laugh at my truly shameful attempt at reading a tongue twister

and for taking polls.

We read The Lorax

We read Horton Hears a Who!

Finally, we read Yertle the Turtle

and had fun trying to create stacks of turtles.

Our record was 8 without it toppling over.

We wrote all about it in our science journals

and replicated the stacks, 1-10.

You'd think we would be sick of Dr. Seuss.  But, no.  A landslide majority of the class painted their favorite Dr. Seuss moments throughout the week.

We didn't forget to learn about the letter Rr, though.
R is for Racecars!

We'll learn all about rainbows next week, but we definitely enjoyed the head start.
r is for rainbow!

We also traced Rr's in rice.

We had a really, really good week!
