This week, our big focus was catching St. Patrick's Day leprechauns.
Preparing for the big day coming back on Monday, we counted pieces of gold in pots...
...used the green, sparkly playdough to make letter T's...
...and graphed Lucky Charms marshmallows.
We also made handprint leprechauns and then took turns dictating a story about our own.
Finally, it was time to begin planning our leprechaun traps. We collaborated intensely as we spoke and listened to one another's ideas, round-table style.
Then, each team voted on an idea.
On Thursday, we were ready to build.
The Yellow Team.
The Red Team.
The Green Team.
The Blue Team.
By Friday, St. Patrick's Day, we were ready. We planted clovers...
...and made rainbow fruit kebabs.
But, while we were at recess and ready to catch some leprechauns, four of them got the better of us instead! Man, I've been trying to catch these guys for 7 years now!
Dear Green
Team,
I climbed up
your ladder and almost fell in! But, I
balanced myself and didn’t get trapped.
Better luck next St. Patrick’s Day!
Paddy Wagon
Dear Red Team,
I climbed up your stairs and I almost fell in! But, I was able to get out without you
trapping me! Better luck next time!
Brian O’Irelan
Dear Blue Team,
I came so close to getting tricked and falling into your hole! But, I didn’t fall in and I took your gold anyways! Better luck next year!
Patrick O’Gold
Dear Yellow
Team,
I wanted that
gold coin so bad, but I knew you were trying to trick me. I got your gold coin anyways and I didn’t get
trapped. I’ll see you next year!
Fun O'Shenanigans
Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!
As the old Irish blessing goes, may the wind always be at your back and the sun upon your face... and the bubbles be plentiful.
