September 14th, 2018

This week, we studied the five senses.

Continuing with our "All About Me" theme, we got scientific and investigated our sense of sight, touch, hearing, smell, and taste.

We started on Monday with our sense of sight.

We also made sure to adorn our classroom door with an acceptable amount of eyeballs.

On Tuesday, we learned about our sense of touch.

Than, we had fun with a touching art project and practiced our descriptive vocabulary.

And Ms. Laura gave a lesson on Mis Cinco Sentidos.

On Wednesday, we examined our sense of hearing.

We also listened to an audio book with our headphones...

and really got into numbers 1 & 2.

Wednesday marked the first day that friends from Pioneer Day School, a nonpublic school a couple of blocks away that serves children with special needs, came to visit my new class of students.  Since 2016, they have ridden their awesome bike (see photo of it down below!) every Wednesday for a Sacred Heart/Pioneer playdate.  This proves to be a wonderful highlight of our week and offers us these incredible moments of friendship, sharing, and inclusion.  After our visit, we so were sad to see them go and we cannot wait until our next Wednesday playdate!

On Thursday, we jumped back into our senses with the sense of smell.

Not everyone appreciated my essential oil collection, though.

We continued with 1 & 2

Finally, on Friday, we got to our favorite part.  The sense of taste!

We examined our taste buds...

and we tasted foods that were sweet, salty, and of course, sour.

We also became masters of the written numbers 1&2.

 Because we're just that awesome!
