These last two weeks, we've celebrated apples...
the letter Aa...
Bb...
and ABAB patterning!
Going back to the beginning of the unit, the first thing we did was apple out the classroom.
Then we explored apples by understanding size and weight differences.
Afterwards, we drew our conclusions. Literally.
We were introduced to the letter Aa...
and looked for A's in our names.
We got high tech and played A games on the interactive whiteboard...
we got low tech and built them in sand.
We wrote letter A's in oatmeal with cinnamon stick pencils...
and we wrote letter A's with chalk. We're a well-rounded bunch.
Getting back to apples, we read Ten Apples Up On Top. Then, we tried to see how many apples we could get on top.
We created playdough apple trees...
and then followed 1 & 2 directions.
We also used apples to stamp ABAB patterns.
We tested our scissor use and made apple trees...
and we made apple structures.
Then, we focused on an apple's life cycle. Noting the apple seed's 5-point star, we found exactly where the 5 flower petals were when the apple was a baby on the tree.
We did some apple yoga as we grew into apple trees ourselves.
Our favorite part of the unit, however? Making applesauce!
Using one of the best cooking tools ever, we peeled the apples.
This wasn't always easy and we had to make sure to work together as a team...
but the end result of an apple slinky was so much fun!
We stirred and we simmered all day...
and voilà! KinderPrep applesacue!
We worked hard this unit...
but we had so much fun! Namaste!
