And it's officially summer!

All through August, we'll begin each week by visiting the library for their Monday morning presentations.  This first week, we were entertained by a magician.

Back in class, we counted goldfish crackers in our art...

...and and used goldfish solve math sentences.

We made sea shell impressions...

...we counted sea shells...

...and we painted them, too!

What happens when you give school-aged children rolls of butcher paper, scissors, masking tape and Sharpies?  They create elaborate costumes and put on a play for the preschoolers!

It's going to be a fun summer!

June 20th, 2014

The day has come!  Graduation is an event that I, both, love and dread.

It means taking a look at each of my students...

...and then saying good-bye to them as they move forward.
But, it was a wonderful ceremony!

Looking back from the first day of this 2013-14 school year...

...we created art together...

...went to the pumpkin patch together...

...visited with firefighters together...

...spread cheer to the residents at Grossmont Gardens Retirement Community together...

...saw Santa together...

...performed science experiments together...

...lots of science experiments!

We were recorded live on the news together...

...built projects together...

...watched a plane draw a heart in the sky on Valentine's together...

...juiced wheatgrass together...

...and made treasures together.

It's been a wild ride this year!!!  And, I wouldn't trade it for anything!

Happy Father's Day to all our superheroes!!!

This week we celebrated the special day by hosting our "Dads and Donuts" breakfast...

Back in class, we finally finished our alphabet.  It was bittersweet as we completed our Z-Zebras.

For about 15 seconds, we had zebra print sand, too.  Then, it turned into gray sand.

We also made our lower-case z-zippers.  I'm going to miss our alphabet in the summer!

On Friday, in honor of the letter Zz, we made zucchini bread.

From Applesauce to Zucchini Bread, we cooked in the classroom often this year!

If you can, stop by and see our "12 Days of Kindergarten" collection of paintings!  I guarantee you'll have the tune stuck in your head for the remainder of the day.

What a difference two years makes!  We're enjoying our last days together as much as possible before we're off to kindergarten!

Let's get physical!  On Wednesday, we held our incredible Jog-a-Thon.  This is an event that has always been hosted at Sacred Heart Academy, but it's the first annual Jog-a-Thon for our preschool.  It was so much fun and, while we don't have an exact figure yet, we have raised over $6,000 as of today!  A HUGE thank-you to all of our families!!!  And a HUGE thank-you to all who volunteered to help run the operation!!!

Our children jogged their little hearts out!

We also enjoyed a calming, professionally instructed yoga class.  Angela from YogaSprouts volunteered her time and ran three separate classes as we rotated from the Jog-a-Thon track, yoga class and playing in the playground.  We were so impressed with Angela and her yoga instruction, we're hoping she'll return soon!

We're growing by leaps and bounds!

Back in my classroom, we worked on our Y-Yaks.  By next week, we'll have finished the alphabet!

Let me zoom in a bit on that last photo.  Meet Miss Lauren, my new classroom teacher.  This has been her first couple of days at Sacred Heart (and what a couple of days!) and we already all adore her.

We also made our y-yarn!

Meanwhile, Miss Kim's class experimented with melting ice (I is for Ice!) by creating their works of art.

Miss Gabriella's class created their works of art, too!

We definitely had a busy week in preschool...

...but it's so much fun!!!
