December 14th, 2018

It's officially Christmas season!!!

You know, 'cause the weather outside is frightful.

But the fire is so delightful.

And since we've no place to go...

let it (hydrated polymer blend) snow...

let it snow...

let it snow.

This week started off with lots and lots of rain.

But that didn't stop us!

There's no such thing as boring rainy school days in KP-2!

As we jumped, we also spent time making our first Christmas tree ornament.

Carefully placing branches in order from smallest to biggest, we made Christmas trees.  For our Christmas trees.

On Nutcracker day, we watched clips from the Bolshoi Ballet...

We played with Nutrackers...

we played Nutcracker bingo...

and we made another Christmas tree ornament.

Then, it was time for the most anticipated day of the school year.
Santa!!!  (I know him!)

Santa, Mrs. Claus, and Betty the Elf visited our school and it was the best day ever!

Afterwards, Betty the Elf came to our class and helped us open our presents.

It was hard to top this day.  But we tried.  During Christmas, we cut out snowflakes...

we imagine we're snowboarding elves...

we make letter J-Jingle Bells...

we point out letter Jj words...

we read ¡Cómo el Grinch Robó La Navidad! (How the Grinch Stole Christmas)...

we find familiar letters in How the Grinch Stole Christmas on the interactive whiteboard...

we watch the movie with popcorn and hot cocoa...

and we paint what we love most about Christmas.

We also spent some time practicing with ABC patterns.

This came in handy as we made our trays of lasagna for Stand Up For Kids, too.

Sauce, noodles, cheese.

The children of the Stand Up For Kids shelter loved the lasagna.  Thank you again for all of the donated ingredients.

We ended our week on a high note.  Notes of all sorts, actually.  Friday was our annual Christmas performance and there is absolutely no one in the world who sings a better Here Comes Santa Claus or Feliz Navidad than KP-2.

Brace yourselves.
Hold the door.
