October 30th, 2015

Welcome to Halloween!
F is for Frankenstein!
We started the week off by making some super fun eyeball playdough.

Then, after reading Go Away, Big Green Monster, we played with felt monsters of our own.

We also got really messy making some bat art.

We always look forward to an opportunity to get messy.

We fed some monsters.

We "fished" out letters A-F from our Halloween bin.

We practiced patterning with bats and pumpkins.

We also made sure to dress our lower-case f's in feathers.

Throughout the week, we created our 1-5 counting books, too!

Even when we're blue, preschool is fun...

because we're superheroes.  Alphabet superheroes.

October 16th, 2015

This week, we learned all about the letter Ee.
E is for Elephant!
E is actually a really challenging letter.  As a vowel, the sound is difficult to hear and the lower-case e can be hard to write.  So, we practiced often this week.

We also constructed our e-eggs...
e is for egg!
and read Green Eggs and Ham together.

We found Ee's with our dot stamps...

and had fun with e-themed show-n-tell.

While working on our E's, we also closely examined spiders this week.  Learning about their sticky webs, we experimented with the fact that spiders have oily legs which allow them to glide across their own webs without getting caught.

Then, we painted some of our own with water colors.

We practiced some number recognition and counting with spiders...

and we made handprint spiders...

to create a classroom website.

We work hard!

But, we're super cute while doing it.

October 9th, 2015

This week, we celebrated a super-sized week in preschool!

We started our Monday by reading Dog's Colorful Day, a story about a dog who gets his colorful dots throughout his messy day.  Then, we made our letter D-Dots.
D is for Dots!

We also played with dinosaurs...

and practiced the written Dd.

We rushed it a little this week and, by Tuesday, we were ready for our lower-case d.
d is for duck!

Finally, on Wednesday, we had the best time ever at the pumpkin patch!

Coming back, we loved pumpkins!  We pieced together pumpkin seed puzzles...

made pumpkin art...

played scarecrows...

and measured pumpkins.

By Friday, we made our pumpkin bread.  This is one of my favorite days of the year.

First, we scooped out all the goo.

Then, after baking for a few minutes, we pureed the pumpkin.

Finally, we were ready to mix together the ingredients.

And, voilĂ !  Preschool pumpkin bread!

It was a good end to a fantastic week!

October 2nd, 2015

This week, we celebrated the letter Cc!
C is for Caterpillar!

And, this week, we also celebrated fall leaves.

Reading Leaf Man, we made beautiful leaf collages.

Later in the week, we devoted the lower-case c to clouds.
c is for cloud!

Then, we found c's in Hickory Dickory Dock.

For our math activities this week, we counted and sorted acrylic fall manipulatives...
and practiced the written number 3.

C's are fun!

Preschool is fun!
