September 25th, 2015

This week, we celebrated the letter Bb.

Exploring the written letter and it's sound, we played with Bb's on the interactive whiteboard...

traced them in shaving cream...

built them with playdough...

found them in Baa Baa Black Sheep...

and, finally, practiced writing them.

We also made our b-buttons.

Wrapping up our science lessons on the lifecycle of an apple this week, we created a visual reminder of the circle of life.

We also took an opportunity to practice our lacing skills with acorns.

Whether we're counting Baa Baa Black Sheep...

or having a conversation with a friend...

we love preschool!

September 18th, 2015

This week, we got down to business.  Alligator business.

And apple business.

This week, as we were introduced to the letter Aa, we got high-tech and used our interactive whiteboard.

We got low-tech and traced in sand.

We built the letter with playdough...

...and we used our pencils.  We're a well-rounded bunch.

We looked for A's in the rhyme, "A Tisket, A Tasket"...

...and then adjusted the story a little.

We also worked on our math this week.  We stamped ABAB patterns with apples...

sorted and counted apples...

...and practiced numbers 1 & 2 with apples.

By Friday, we finished our celebration of apples by making applesauce.

It was sufficiently yummy!

We worked hard.

We played hard.

It was a good week!

Have a wonderful weekend and we'll see you on Monday :)

This week, we learned all about our 5 senses!

Rotating through our small groups, we focused on one each day.
We learned about our sense of touch...

our sense of sight...

our sense of smell...

our sense of hearing...

and, of course, our sense of taste.

Once we finished, everyone got a personalized take-home book.

Throughout the week, we used our senses as we painted with spices...

and made maracas.

We also learned about our bodies this week.

Turning the blacktop into a crime scene, we traced one other...

had fun with sentence strips...

and enjoyed our yoga Wednesdays.

We love preschool!
**That's not just a super fun square pattern above.  Written names will always be pixelated if they're associated with your child's face

September 4th, 2015

We survived the first week of school!

We're so glad to be back...

...doing what we love best!

Also, meet Miss M. (she is our second teacher named Michelle K., so we will call her Miss M.)  She started with us on Tuesday and will be in our classroom each day.  We couldn't be happier!

With a class of all new students, we took this week to get to know one another.
We played in play-dough together...

painted together...

read together...

and we practiced yoga together.

A significant part of our curriculum is self-awareness and learning how to manage our emotions.  So, we got started right away.

This week, we also made Our Tree of Kindness.  As the kids use kind words with one another, it goes up as a leaf on our tree.

By Friday, we were definitely ready for chocolate chip cookies.  We had a great time mixing up a large batch!

And we only snuck a little.

It's been a good week!

Have a wonderful Labor Day weekend and we will see you bright and early on Tuesday!
