October 7th, 2016

These last two weeks, we celebrated fall.

Wrapping up our apple unit, we had a chance to dissect apples and study their parts (and eat leftover applesauce).

We searched for the 5-point star in each one...

and we examined their life cycle.

We also finished with our letter Bb...

and then we made banana bread!

Applesauce, Banana Bread, and Chocolate Chip Cookies.  We're cooking with ABC's!

Coming back Monday, we were ready to start with letter Cc as we built them with cotton clouds...

practiced writing them..

and played with our community and cars.

For science this week, we had an opportunity to learn all about fall leaves...

and acorns.

We sang I'm a Little Acorn.

We made leaf collage art.

We made leaf and acorn pies.

We even practiced cutting with scissors.

For our science journals, we got serious and closely examined acorns and pinecones.

Then, we created our journal entries.

Eventually, the children knew so much about acorns and leaves, they were ready to teach the class themselves.

Our final act was making our ghost footprints...

for our Halloween door.

Have a wonderful weekend and we'll see you at the pumpkin patch on Monday!
