March 24th, 2017

This week, we got our hands dirty.

Celebrating the first day of spring on Monday, we planted our new garden.  We now are the proud growers of tomatoes, lettuce, carrots, cucumbers, kale, basil, and peas!

We also welcomed our pet worms this week.

We examined some of the different parts of a worm and how their castings help gardens grow.  Fortunately, no one figured out what worm castings are.

We also thoroughly reviewed washing our hands this week!

Some opted out of holding worms, though, and were perfectly content to read about them instead.

And reading was something we did a lot of this week.

Filling up our awesome library yet again...

we learned all about growing our own salad.

Meanwhile, throughout our week, we also put together garden puzzles...

learned about gardening tools...

took care of our sprouting clovers from St. Patrick's Day...

counted worms in the soil...

studied the different parts of a plant...

played planty games...

held a letter Uu show-n-tell...

and practiced our written U's.

Then, just when we thought the week couldn't get any cooler, we also welcomed a pet snail!

Right?!

We tended to our garden every day...

and never forgot to water.

By the end of the week, we decided to release the worms to allow them to do what worms do.
Happy eating, worms!

This has been the best week ever!!!
