This week, we learned all about spring time gardening!
We started our unit by gardening out the classroom...
and planting St. Patrick's Day clovers in our own mini-gardens.
We carefully cut out our own flowers and vegetables...
to make our door display.
We then spent some time planning our garden bed outside. Knowing that we would be gifting a Thanksgiving garden (growing corn, beans, and squash) to the KP-2 class of 2019-20, we mapped out our garden plot. We also carefully traced each letter of our science journal words, saying the letters aloud...
With a plan, we braved the rainy weather on the first day of spring and began to plant our garden.
We dug, aerating the soil...
we planted the seeds...
we watered...
and we got our hands really dirty!
We also practiced washing our hands.
Back in class, we painted our spring paintings.
Then, we came up with 3 describing sentences for spring.
Finally, we had ourselves a poetry reading as we read our spring poems to our friends.
We learned some spring vocabulary...
which included worms...

We love worms so much, one of the best parts of the week was playing with our pet worms!
